COMSTECH’s 5,000 scholarships for Palestinian students strengthen educational ties, addressing the academic challenges faced by Palestinian youth.

COMSTECH’s Support for Palestinian Education Praised
The Palestinian Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. Zaheer Mohammad Hamadallah Zaid, lauded the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation’s Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation COMSTECH for its spectacular initiative by providing 5,000 scholarships to students from Palestine.
During his meeting with COMSTECH Coordinator General Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary, the ambassador pointed out scholarships as “practical help” and an important way of contributing to Palestine during a session held on Friday.
Education for Palestine Improvement
Dr. Zaid expressed gratitude for Pakistan and COMSTECH’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, emphasizing their collective efforts to tackle the educational challenges faced by Palestinian youth. This program, initiated in 2021 with 500 fully-funded scholarships, expanded to 5,000 scholarships in 2023, reflecting a growing commitment to Palestinian education.
Progress and Future Plans

Under this plan, many Palestinian students are now studying for degrees at various universities in Pakistan with a plan to bring many more. Prof. Dr. Choudhry referring to the latest spate of Israeli aggression further added that “we won’t leave our Palestinian students alone. COMSTECH is committed to giving them absolutely free quality education at Pakistan’s best universities.”
Extraordinary Conference on Education for Palestine
Dr. Choudhary also announced an extraordinary conference involving OIC Member States’ Ministers of Education to discuss the education crisis in Palestine in-depth. This is meant to enhance cooperation and formulate solutions to rebuild the education structure in the region.
Collaboration Commitment
Dr. Zaid assured the full cooperation of the Palestinian Embassy to make this program a success. He informed that he is considering visiting Pakistani universities under the platform of COMSTECH for further opportunities of collaborative educational endeavors. Moreover, he emphasized the need for the scholarship selection process to be streamlined to make the whole process more efficient.
