The 2024 Edufair, an event of transformational learning, was recently held with the objective of guiding students toward global scholarship and academic opportunities.
A Joint Effort by ICS and TAEConsult
The event, held at the International Community School (ICS) by Talent, Academic, and Education Consultants (TAEConsult), aimed to provide students with the most valuable resources to shape their educational journeys. It bridged the gap between students and their aspirations by offering insights and personalized guidance.
Ayobami Odumzde, Marketing Manager at TAEConsult, pointed out to the importance of equipping students with international education, “It is important, therefore, to create options for students to study offshore,” she said, suggesting that 80% of Nigerians and Ghanaians are still not yet aware of scholarship and finance opportunities.
Connecting Students with Global Opportunities
The Edufair had the participation of top institutions such as the University of York, Coventry University, Universita di Pavia, and Nipissing University. Representatives were on hand to guide students through the application process step by step, offering personalized advice to help build competitive profiles.
According to ICS School Counselor Yaw Ofosu-Krankye, the event helped students make informed decisions about their future education. He encouraged parents to support their children’s aspirations rather than imposing their choices.
Technology Transforming Scholarship Search
Favour Onyejuhiwa, Product Manager of SchApp, presented an innovative app that makes scholarship search easy. Using AI, the app matches students to universities based on individual profiles and provides a centralized platform for seamless communication with counselors and institutions.
“Many students feel overwhelmed and lack direction in finding scholarships,” Onyejuhiwa shared. “This app addresses their concerns by offering personalized guidance and reducing the reliance on scattered online searches.”
Real-Life Impact
Students appreciated Edufair for its all-rounded approach. According to Eden International School student, “I didn’t know where to begin with my applications, but now I feel more confident and informed.”
Juanita Acquaye from ICS also agreed on the same point. “Having the universities’ representatives and mental health team under one roof was very precious. It made the process less stressful and effective,” she added.
