Among the awards are the University’s flagship Chancellor’s Scholarships and the innovative Narrm Scholarships, designed to recognize and nurture exceptional talent while promoting equity in education.

The Melbourne Chancellor’s Scholarship

The Melbourne Chancellor’s Scholarship is a remarkable opportunity for high-achieving students. It provides:

  • Tuition fee remission for undergraduate studies.
  • A guaranteed pathway into sought-after graduate programs like the Doctor of Medicine or Juris Doctor (Law), provided prerequisites and entry requirements are met.
  • A generous annual allowance throughout the undergraduate years.
  • An optional Melbourne Global Scholars Award of up to $2,500 to support international study through exchange or study abroad programs.

This scholarship is designed to reward outstanding academic performance while offering unparalleled educational benefits.

The Narrm Scholarship: Breaking Down Barriers

The Narrm Scholarship Program is another vital initiative by the University. It supports students who have traditionally faced obstacles to higher education by offering financial aid and enrichment opportunities. This program reflects the University’s commitment to fostering access, equity, and inclusion.

A Message from the Interim Vice-Chancellor

Interim Vice-Chancellor Professor Nicola Phillips expressed her admiration for the scholarship recipients, saying:

A Message from the Interim Vice-Chancellor

“We are thrilled to welcome this incredible group of talented and inspiring young scholars into our University community. These students have demonstrated exceptional achievement, earning them the opportunity to study at one of the world’s leading institutions.”

Eligibility Criteria

The Melbourne Chancellor’s Scholarship is offered to:

Enrichment and Community Building

Narrm Scholars are welcomed to campus through a special pre-orientation camp, scheduled for early 2025, as part of an enrichment program. These students, from diverse backgrounds and regions across Australia, contribute meaningfully to the University through various roles and activities.

Unlocking Opportunities Through Philanthropy

Professor Phillips emphasized the importance of philanthropic support in expanding the Narrm Scholarship Program:

“By increasing the number of scholarships, particularly through the generosity of donors, we can offer more students the chance to pursue their academic goals, ensuring that a University of Melbourne education is accessible to talented individuals from all walks of life.”

Building a Brighter Future

Through these scholarships, the University of Melbourne reaffirms its dedication to academic excellence, inclusivity, and fostering the next generation of leaders. These programs serve as a testament to the transformative power of education and the University’s commitment to empowering students to reach their full potential.
